Gunn returns to the immortality theme in his best-known work, aptly titled The Immortals . In this 1962 tale, a group known as the Cartwrights has become immortal through a mutation. Because others could become immortal through a blood transfusion with one of the Cartwrights, they are forced to hide underground. The book was adapted for TV in the 1969 series, ΓÇ£The Immortal.ΓÇ¥
